Description
of Project:
When the Building Committee chose to begin a major renovation
of the worship space, AMT Systems was commissioned to assist
in new designs for sound and video projection, taking advantage
of the opportunity to include cable routing, speaker and
screen hang locations, new platform floor boxes and wall
panels, an expanded booth layout and other functional design
issues. The completed worship space is result of an effort
that began with a “to-the-bare-walls” demolition
and ended with expanded seating capacity, improved architectural
and performance lighting and acoustics, and a sound and
video system that is capable of enhancing the worship experience.
A
Yamaha 32 channel digital console connects to Biamp digital
signal processing and routing electronics, QSC power amplification
and a left, center and right exploded cluster of JBL AE-series
speakers. The memory system of the Yamaha console was a
significant factor in the church’s decision process,
since it allows the system operator to instantly recall
the stored memory of a complete system setup for a specific
service, thereby dramatically reducing setup and sound check
times and providing a week-to-week consistency of sound
reinforcement.
A
pair of Eiki LCD video projectors provide rear –projected
images on a pair of 6 X 8 foot Reversa screens. These “see-through”
screens are suspended at the sides of the platform and provide
a wide viewing angle to the fan-shaped seating area. When
no image is present on these screens, they provide a non-distractive
surface that the congregation has embraced enthusiastically.
Additional LCD projectors were included to provide images
at walls flanking the main entry doors for viewing by those
on the platform.
A
complete ETC performance lighting system including dimmers
controlling both architectural and performance lighting,
an Express console, and ETC Source Four ellipsoidal and
PAR fixtures, was also furnished and installed as part of
AMT’s efforts in the renovation process. The system
is designed to allow user-defined presets to be activated
from a door station and from a panel at the booth without
the need to connect and operate the larger control console.
The door station presets provide house lighting operation,
while the programmable booth panel can control both architectural
and performance lighting.
